Description
One-piece wedding dress in princess style, ca. 1879. Origin: America. The dress impresses with its very elegant brocade fabric with a floral motif and the many bows. These decorate the front part of the dress and the cuffs. A large bow for the train has been made from the same fabric. On the back the dress is made of ribbed brown silk. In the hem area and in the area of the long train this silk is laid in small folds. Half-length sleeves. Small stand-up collar. The dress is closed with buttons on the front. All are present - which is a little miracle. The top is reinforced with corset stays. Excellent preserved. Tiny signs of age and wear, which are hardly visible. Museum quality. Decoration is not included.Dresses tailored in this fashionable style should emphasize the figure extremely. They were all one-piece pieces and were only worn for a short time. They are very rare to find. The name comes from the English Queen Alexandra, Princess of Wales. She made these dresses presentable. They were only tailored and worn for a few years, so that a dating at this point is easy.
