Vintage 1975 Designer Ron Lo Vece LoVece Baby Blue and White Organza and Lace Wedding gown with petticoat and matching short veil with custom headpiece. I wore this dress in June 1975.
Ron Lo Vece, or LoVece
(1939 – 2010) was an American fashion designer. He was especially noted for his bridal wear, working with designers such as Christos, Alfred Angelo for the Michelle Piccione Collection, with The Diamond Collection, and in his later years with the Justin Alexander collection.
Designer Monique Lhuillier wore a Lo Vece gown in 1995, as did Julia Roberts in the movie Runaway Bride.

PLEASE check the measurements carefully for fit.  Although the dress does not have a size tag, the petticoat is a size 12. I am pretty sure the dress is also a circa 1975 size 12. Which is probably a size 6 or 8 in todays sizing. The bodice and cap sleeves are the part of the dress that is most critical to fit. The bodice and sleeves are lined and there is no give at all.
The arm hole opening is 7.5" from the top shoulder seam around the front to the arm pit side seam. The cap sleeve is 4.5' from the top of sleeve to the bottom of the sleeve, and the sleeve opening is 12" around.
At the armpit it is 31" around, and at the fullest part of the chest it is 32" around.
It is 11.5" from the shoulder seam to the empire waist seam, and at the empire waist it is 27" around. Then the dress flairs out and it is 50" at the hip line.
The dress is 55" long from shoulder seam to hem in the front and 75" from shoulder seam to hem in the back at the train.
The petticoat has a 27" waist and is 40.5" long, The fingertip veil is 34" long by 48" wide, and the face veil is 23" long by 43" wide.
There is no content tag but I believe the dress fabric is probably polyester and nylon.
The empire waist dress has a square neckline and cap sleeves all trimmed in white lace.
The bodice is heavily appliquéd with the substantial cotton/poly (?) floral lace with blue rosebuds. The skirt is 3 layers, the under most layer is opaque white taffeta that gives the skirt body and fullness. The middle layer is sheer white organza. The top layer is sheer blue and sheer white organza cut on
the bias and pieced together to form the blue petal shapes and the wide white hem and train. With lace appliqués and blue rosebuds adorning the blue organza and lace trimming on all the seam lines.
There are no tags of any kind in the dress, but please see the photo of this dress from a 1975 magazine. I took this ad to the bridal shop and ordered this dress.
The dress comes with a taffeta and tule petticoat skirt for added fullness, and a 2 layer tule fingertip veil edged with matching lace trim and attached to a custom headpiece with matching lace and blue rosebuds. It has a button on the back of the bodice and a loop to bustle the train, and a wrist loop under the back seam of the skirt to carry the train.
This dress is in amazing condition for a 46 year old dress. It is clean and fresh without any spots or stains. There is almost no yellowing, except the lining of the top of the sleeves (under the blue organza) looks slightly more ivory than white. There is a tiny hole at the hem line of the top layer as shown in the last photo.
Some of the seam allowances have begun to fray, but none of the seams have pulled apart. The 3 layers of the dress are all hemmed with Horsehair braid (made of polyester) which is a stiff, sheer tape that helps maintain the fullness of the skirt. The braid is sewn to the raw edge of the skirt then folded up to make the hem. I believe the hem was originally adhered to the back of the skirt with adhesive to create an almost invisible hemline on the sheer organza. The adhesive has disintegrated and the hem is no longer attached to the back of the skirts., Some of the raw edges of the organza are fraying, but none of the horsehair braid has become detached from the skirts, and it just needs to be re-attached to the back of the skirts. I will leave that to the buyer. It needs a good professional pressing.
