Vintage Ecru Lace and Silk Midi Wedding/Cocktail Dress Small

Description

Purchased in 1979 at the original Henri Bendel’s on 57th Street in NYC, this gorgeous dress is suitable for wedding or cocktail wear.  The hem is handkerchief style; the scoop-neck bodice is covered in bead and the sleeves are 3/4.   A dropped waist, enhanced with a bow, adds to its charm.   The bow is detachable. The dress is two separate layers, consisting of all lace on one layer and separate silk midi camisole underneath.   The skirt of the overlay dress consists of two layers with the second layer being a dotted netting. Satin ribbon  and lace with crochet accents enhances the dropped waist, as well as the sleeves’ cuffs.   The dress has no shoulder seams; I wore the sleeves pushed up above my elbow to create a bit of a pouf.
Lying FLAT:  the spaghetti-strap silk midi from the tip of strap at shoulder to hem is 43” long; underarm to underarm is 16”; Waist: 17”; Hip: 18”.   The dress’s arm cuff is 4.5”; the higher part of the sleeve is 7”.   From shoulder to end tip of handkerchief hem, the outer dress is 53” in length.
In addition to my wedding,   I have worn it twice for cocktail occasions.   I originally paid 0 in 1979.  Selling because we are downsizing.  Perfect for afternoon or early evening garden wedding.  Please look at all pictures and contact me with any questions.   Smoke free home.
