Description
Absolutely AMAZING, original design gown! Lots and lots of character, unique design, and elaborate hand-applied detailing. Please read the entire description and drink in the features.
100% SILK gown in brilliant sapphire blue. Probably late 70s to early 80s. A bit of Edwardian flare with squared, stand-up neck at the back and low neckline with stand-up puffs at the shoulders.
The bodice is lavishly decorated in miniscule gold sequins with silver and bold beads. The design is fluid and very "nouveau". Beaded tassels hang from the top of the midriff.
The sleeves are likewise beautifully decorated in beads and sequins and also have beaded tassels
The theme is carried to the low back with scrolls of beads and sequins and beaded tassels hanging from the hip. It would take a lifetime to count all the beads and sequins in the design.
The body of the gown is beaded throughout in undulating rows of beads -- not lines, like you normally see. So there is visual movement and fluidity throughout this gown.
Padding under the sleeves puffs the shoulders and pads at the shoulders provide support and shape.
Gown is fully lined and closes with a zipper down the back and hooks at the back of the neck.
This vintage gown has never been worn and has its original tags showing a price of 0.
Expensive, even for this day and age. I can find no missing beads, tears or problems, save a very slight bit of fading to the dye along the side facing the exterior of the clothes rack.
Tagged 8, but much smaller than a modern 8, so please review the measurements carefully for proper fit.
